On January 2, People's Artist of Belarus, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus, leading opera soloist Nina Sharubina celebrated her jubilee. In honour of the jubilee, Nina Sharubina will perform the title role of Tosca in the eponymous Puccini’s opera on 16 January and the role of Yaroslavna in Borodin’s Prince Igor on 28 January.
The future singer was born in the small village of Kalinovaya on the banks of the Dnieper. The family loved music, so the girl entered a music school. After graduating from school with a gold medal, Nina Sharubina decided to enroll in law, but changed her mind and chose music, entering the department of choral conducting at the Mogilev music school, after which she go to the Klimovichi district to work as a music teacher at a rural music school. At the same time, every week the she went to study singing with Lyudmila Brailovskaya in the Mogilev Palace of Culture and Technology.
Then Nina Sharubina graduated from the Belarusian State Conservatory, where she had studied under Associate Professor Valentina Rogovich, and the Academy's programme of postgraduate studies (assistantship) under the supervision of the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus, Professor Leonid Ivashkov. And after that she was invited to work as a soloist in the Mogilev Philharmonic.
She joined the opera company of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus in 2002, when she was 40. Today, Nina Sharubina's repertoire includes the roles of Nedda in Leloncavallo's Pagliacci, Lady Macbeth in Verdi's Macbeth, Iryna in Smolsky's The Grey Legend, Senta in Wagner's Der fliegende Holländer, Aida in the eponymous Verdi's opera and Turandot in the eponymous Puccini’s opera.
For nineteen seasons, Sharubina delights music admirers with her art. The People's Artist performs brilliantly at the Belarusian Bolshoi and at well-known international venues. The singer had toured widely in Austria, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, France, Russia, Switzerland and Italy. As a member of the company she has also toured Germany, Thailand, Tunisia, Cyprus and the UK.
In tandem with singing associate professor of the Belarusian Academy of Music teaches and manages the probationer group. In 2017 Nina Sharubina was appointed chairman of the Council of the Fund for the Support of Culture and Art.
