The story of Samson, a powerful warrior defeated by female wiliness, is the most famous opera by the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns. Samson et Dalila will appear in the calendar of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus for the first time. It is noteworthy that on 14 December this production will open the 9th Minsk International Christmas Opera Forum.
The production team was headed by conductor Aleh Lessoun and director Oksana Volkova. The designers are the laureates of the Golden Mask Russian National Theatre Award Etel Ioshpa(sets and costumes) and Stas Svistunovich (lighting and video design). Etel and Stas have already worked with Volkova on her debut production Le Villi. Fatum. The chorus master is the People's Artist of Belarus Nina Lomanovich and choreographer Sergey Mikel. ‘I hope that together we will do the production that will be interesting to our audience...’ the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Oksana Volkova said.
It should be reminded that the singer performed the role of Dalila at the National Center for Performing Arts in Beijing. In 2014-1015 a series of performances with the participation of the Belarusian opera prima took place in China.
The artists rehearse in the theater in the morning and in the evening now. It is planned that the main roles will be performed by Oksana Volkova, Aksana Yakushevich, Ekaterina Mikhnovets Aleksey Mikutel, Taras Prysiazhniuk, Dmitry Shabetya, Vladimir Gromov, Stanislav Trifonov, Dzianis Yantsevich, Vasily Kovalchuk, Andrey Selutin, Dmitry Kapilov, Alexander Keda, Oleg Melnikov, Alexander Krasnodubsky, Pavel Trofimik, Dmitry Trofimuk, Yury Bolotko, Alexander Gelakh, Vasily Mingalev.
The second performance of the opera will also take place within the Opera Forum-2021 on 15 December.
