Our audience has heard Maria in two Russian operas: Piotr Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades as Lisa and Alexander Borodin's Prince Igor as Yaroslavna, as well as the first opera-ballet by Giacomo Puccini Le Villi. In April 2021 Maria Galkina and the soloist of the Mikhailovsky Theatre (St. Petersburg) Olesya Petrova, also a student of Bogacheva, presented a programme composed of Russian vocal music masterpieces in the chamber hall of the Belarusian theatre. And it was, without exaggeration, a really successful concert.
In 2016 Maria Galkina graduated from the Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory. She is a winner of international competitions: 2nd prize at the 4th Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition (2017), 3rd prize at the Competizione dell`Opera (Austria, Linz, 2015), 3rd prize at the 6th International Competition of Opera Singers “St Petersburg” (2013). In 2018 Maria joined the opera company of Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.
‘In all musical genres (folk, soul, pop, classical music) I like professionalism. When it is made delicious and with a soul,’ the artist said in an interview for the Parterre Magazine. The fact that Maria Galkina will dedicate her life to opera she realized in St Petersburg, when she began her studies with Larisa Gergieva at the Academy of Young Opera Singers at the Mariinsky Theatre. The Mariinsky Theatre became Maria's destiny. Her life has changed radically. She lived in the theatre, saw the inside of the productions. She learned the basics of stage and acting skills, watched the work of professional directors, studied with the best coaches. But still legendary Irina Bogacheva educated her for a profession.
On 27 January Tosca will feature: Dmitry Shabetya as Cavaradossi, the People's Artists of Belarus Vladimir Gromov as Scarpia, the Honoured Artists of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Keda as the sacristan and Oleg Melnikov the jailer, Dmitry Kapilov as Angelotti, as well as Yury Bolotko as Spoletta and Andrey Klipo Sciarrone. Maestro Oleg Lesun will conduct.
