This concert had a wide response among admirers of real musical art. On 11 April, the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus repeats the programme "Masterpieces of Choral Opera Music" for those who did not have time to attend this programme in February, and for those who would like to witness a real choral performance once again.
The Snow Maiden by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Askold's Grave by Alexey Verstovsky, Boris Godunov by Modest Mussorgsky, Aleko by Sergei Rachmaninoff, The Queen of Spades by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Othello, Macbeth, La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi…The famous choral scenes from these tremendous musical works will be performed by the chorus of the Bolshoi Theatre.
The director of this feast of music is the winner of the Francysk Skaryna medal Galina Galkovskaya. Yuri Karavaev will conduct the symphony orchestra.
‘Can you imagine an opera house without a chorus? Of course not!’ the People's Artist of Belarus, chief chorus master of the Bolshoi Theatre Nina Lomanovich smiles. ‘The chorus in the opera is not just people who are lined up in a row and make some sounds. A good team consists of beautiful voices, purity of tones, rhythmic accuracy, expressiveness, high professionalism of artists who must show different feelings and emotions through singing. That is why the chorus on stage is the real character…’
It should be added that this evening People's Artists of Belarus Nina Sharubina and Sergey Frankovsky, recipient of Francysk Skaryna Medal Dmitry Shabetya, supernumeraries, ballet and Children's Musical Theatre Studio will also appear on the stage.
