The Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus opens its 91st season with the premiere of the last theatrical year.
On 8 September, one of the most popular classical ballets in the entire theatrical world Don Quixote by Ludwig Minkus will take place on our stage. Almost every ballet company of leading theatres strives to have it in its calendar. And the audience is always happy to see the characters of this production. On the stage of the Belarusian Bolshoi, it was staged six times. On 24 March 2023, the audience saw the seventh version. A cheerful, light, incendiary story of two lovers Kitri and Basil came to life in new scenery and new costumes. The director of the production is the renowned choreographer, artistic director of the Bolshoi Theater, People's Artist of the USSR and Belarus Valentin Elizariev.
On 9 September, the atmosphere of Spain will continue to reign at the Bolshoi, although this time it will be not Barcelona (as in Don Quixote), but Seville. Il Barbiere di Siviglia will take place. The beauty of music, virtuoso voices, unexpected plot twists, hilarious adventures... Yes, this is Rossini’s comic opera. This is traditional Italian commedia dell'arte, where even today it is so easy to recognize the characters and situations in which they find themselves. This work, which was written more than two centuries ago, seems so relevant. Il Barbiere di Siviglia is perhaps the most famous composer's opera. The plot of Il Barbiere di Siviglia is simple: young people love each other and want to get married against the will of their fathers and guardians, and ingenious servants help lovers in everything. ‘This opera is the salt of Italy,’ the director Aldo Tarabella, who will bring some Italian sun to the Belarusian production, said. Enrico Musenich, a designer from Italy, is responsible for the sets and costumes. The musical director of the production is Vladimir Ovodok.
You can turn into an ice creature without a soul and heart during your lifetime. But even death cannot withstand the power of true love. On 10September, an old legend about revengeful brides of the other world, who were deceived by their lovers and died before their wedding, will come to life on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. In the fall of 2022, the principal ballet master of the theatre Igor Kolb staged his vision of Adolphe Adam’s Giselle, one of the most beautiful romantic ballets.
