From 6 to 13 June a marathon of choreographic performances, bright premieres, guest performances of the recognized world ballet stars will take place at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. Ballet Summer at the Bolshoi invites the admirers of the choreographic art to the ballet non-stop.

Every year just before the closing of the season the main stage of the Belarusian Bolshoi becomes a kingdom of His Majesty dance for a week. The Ballet Summer project is one of the few large-scale choreographic festivals in Belarus, which gathers on one stage artists, whose names are inscribed in the history of modern ballet, and enables audience to assess the level of performing skills, quality and vector of the world choreographic art development.

The programme of the Ballet Summer at the Bolshoi-2018 includes the premiere of the ballet from the legendary Sergei Diaghilev's “Russian Seasons”, best performances of the Belarusian Bolshoi featuring eminent dancers and a large-scale gala concert of world ballet stars.

The festival will open with premiere of Petrushka by Igor Stravinsky. On 6 and 7 June stars of the Belarusian ballet will perform in the renewed performance from Sergei Diaghilev's “Russian Seasons”. People's Artist of Russia Andris Liepa, a longtime friend of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus worked on this production. “Paired with” Petrushka the audience can see Scheherazade by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and The Firebird by Igor Stravinsky from the Diaghilev’s collection. Viktor Ploskina will conduct.

On 9 June at the theatre will appear gladiator, who dared to rebel against the Great Roman Empire. The outstanding Spartacus by Aram Khachaturian is the most "male" performance in the theater’s repertoire, which thought of as a visiting card of the Belarusian ballet for many years. The performance will be conducted by Nikolai Koliadko.

On 10 June the audience will see the premiere of current season Le Corsaire by Adolphe Adam, Cesare Pugni, Léo Delibes, Riccardo Drigo, Peter of Oldenburg. The leading role will be danced by soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia Mikhail Lobukhin. By the way, Mikhail Lobukhin is well known to Belarusian ballet admirers, because he has repeatedly appeared on the stage of our theater. The dancer performed the role of Basil in Don Quixote by Ludwig Minkus, as well as solo performance in the gala concert of the Ballet Summer Festival. The performance will be conducted by Nikolai Koliadko.

On 11 June the audience will enjoy an absolute synonym of the word "ballet" and main choreographic work in the history of world culture- Swan Lake by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The roles of Odette/Odile and Siegfried will be performed by the soloist of the Mikhailovsky Theatre Oksana Bondareva and soloist of the Mariinsky Theatre Igor Kolb. Vyacheslav Chernukho-Volich will conduct.

On 12 June the theatre presents the premiere of the past season Orr and Ora. This is a story of genuine faithfulness, but not swan faithfulness, an eagle one. A couple of birds parallel to their human alter egos as a metaphor of loving souls go through many trials on the way to unity and happiness. Ivan Kostyakhin will conduct.

The festival will end on 13 June with a gala concert of world ballet stars featuring dancers, whose names appear on the posters of the best theatres, rising stars of the world choreographic sky and ballet legends. Best of the best artists will perform classical and modern choreographic performances and fragments from the favourite works of our audience.
