The performance will feature magnificent soloists of the Belarusian opera Stanislav Trifonov as Gryaznoy, Oksana Volkova as Lyubasha, Tatyana Gavrilova as Marfa, Andrei Valentii as Sobakin, Andrey Selutin as Malyuta Skuratov, Alexander Gelakh as Lykov, Andrei Matyushonok as Bomelius, Maria Galkina as Saburova, Ekaterina Mikhnovets as Dunyasha and others. The principal conductor of the theatre, People's Artist of Bashkortostan Artem Makarov will conduct.

The first production of Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tsar's Bride on the Minsk stage dates back to 1933. The legendary Larisa Alexandrovskaya performed the role of Lyubasha. Literally five years later, a new production team worked on this performance. The third production was performed in 1950. Several generations of brilliant artists have participated in this production during 59 years of its existence on the stage of the theatre.

In 2015, the masterpiece of Russian music returned to the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre. The director Mikhail Pandzhavidze and designer Alexander Kostyuchenko were awarded a Special Prize for Culture and Art Luminaries for this production. And later, the opera received another high award, the National Theatre Award, becoming the best opera performance of 2016. Uundoubtedly, this is the merit of the entire production team: conductor Nikolai Kolyadko, director Mikhail Pandzhavidze, designers Alexander Kostyuchenko (sets) and Nina Gurlo (costumes), chorus master Nina Lomanovich and opera soloists.

This production will be performed to the audience of the Bolshoi Theatre on 8 September (Sun) at 18:00. In the evening, the drama of human passions will unfold in front of the audience against the inhumanity of Ivan the Terrible’s era.
