Dmitry Shabetya graduated from the Nestor Sokolovsky Gomel State College of Arts in academic singing in 2011. He continued his academic vocal studies under the People’s Artist of Russia E.I. Pelageichenko at the Belarusian State Academy of Music, from which he graduated in 2017. The following year, he received his master’s degree from the same academy under the tutelage of the People’s Artist of Belarus, Associate Professor Sergey Frankovsky. His roles with the opera studio of the Belarusian State Academy of Music included Rodolfo in La bohème by Giacomo Puccini, Ferrando in Così fan tutte by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Lykov in The Tsar’s Bride by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and José in Georges Bizet’s Carmen.

He took part in masterclasses given by Kaludi Kaludov (Bulgaria) and Ekaterina Semenchuk (Russia).

From 2017 to 2019, he was a soloist of the Belarusian State Academic Musical Theatre, where his repertoire included Henelon in Tristan & Yseult by Alan Simon, Dieffenbach in Ball im Savoy by Paul Abraham, Camille de Rosillon in Die lustige Witwe by Franz Lehár, Fabian in The Mystery of Pirate Treasures by Viktor Semyonov. As a soloist of the Belarusian State Academic Musical Theatre, he participated in over a hundred concerts on the theatre’s main venue and other hosting venues.

Dmitry Shabetya joined the opera company of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus in 2019, remaining a guest soloist of the Belarusian State Academic Musical Theatre and the Sonorus ensemble.

In 2022, he received a grant from the President of the Republic of Belarus in the field of science, education, healthcare and culture for the project “Belarusian Premieres”, whose concert programme comprised pieces by Belarusian composers, namely D. Dolgolyov, E. Atrashkevich, E. Zatitsky, V. Kistenya, A. Bezenson, E. Glebov, I. Kulagina, etc. The programme was widely presented throughout Belarus.

CONCERT TOUR

Dmitry Shabetya’s recent international engagements include Pinkerton in Giacomo Puccini’s Madama Butterfly at the Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow in September 2022 and José in Georges Bizet’s Carmen at the Azerbaijani State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in November 2022. In October 2022, he performed the role of Dubatouk in a guest performance of King Stakh’s Wild Hunt by the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus on the historic stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia.
