Now the Mariinsky

 

 

On the evening of 24 October, the Belarusian word and Belarusian music were played on the New Stage (the Mariinsky II). Within the the Days of Minsk in St Petersburg the Bolshoi Theatre predented with great success Vladimir Soltan’s King Stakh’s Wild Hunt (staged by the principal director of the theatre Anna Motornaya). Our team performed on this renowned stage for the first time.

Anna Motornaya’s production featured Vladimir Gromov, Elena Zolova, Stanislav Trifonov, Andrei Valentii, Alexander Mikhniuk, Dmitry Shabetya, Alexander Gelakh, Uladzislau Zazulka, Yury Bolotko. Yuri Karavaev conducted. The chorus of the theatre shone in one of the leading "roles" (chief chorus master: Nina Lomanovich). In total, an artistic company of 159 people went to St Petersburg.

‘We have seen a lot, but the production that you brought was simply amazing,’ Yevgeny Stodushniy (First Deputy Artistic and General Director) addressed the staff of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus after the performance.

The general director of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus Catherine Doulova also sincerely congratulated her company on this event: the first performance on the Mariinsky stage in the history of the theatre.
