The Duke from Slovakia

On 22 September the opera hit “La Donna è Mobile…” will be performed by Michal Lehotský.

The Slovak tenor in the role of the Duke from Verdi’s masterpiece Rigoletto has been rapturously applauded in Vienna State Opera. Minsk citizens are lucky this autumn: Lehotský is coming to the Belarusian Bolshoi. On 22 September the Slovak tenor will sing the role the Duke of Mantua in a performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s Rigoletto at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.

For 20 years of his artistic work Michal has created a wide gallery of roles: Radames in Aida, Ismaele in Nabucco, the title role in Otello by Giuseppe Verdi; Don José in Georges Bizet’s Carmen, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Cavaradossi in Tosca, Rodolfo in La bohème by Giacomo Puccini; the Pretender in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov; Herman in Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades, etc. He is a welcome guest singer of numerous famous theatres. He has appeared at Vienna State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Budapest State Opera House, Bratislava Philharmonie, National Theatre in Bucharest. Michal has been invited to perform in a number of festivals in Sweden, Ireland, Cyprus, Austria, China, Japan, etc. He has worked with Prague State Opera for about 10 years and won the hearts of the Czech spectators: in 2008 he was nominated for a prestigious Thalia award, an award which is given to the best representatives of Czech drama, opera, ballet and operetta.

The 22 September performance will also feature the People’s Artist of Belarus Vasily Kovalchuk as Count Monterone, Honoured Artists of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Gromov as Rigoletto, Oleg Melnikov as Sparafucile, Oksana Yakusheva as Maddalena, winners of international competitions Tatyana Gavrilova as Gilda and Natalia Akinina as Giovanna. The performance will be conducted by maestro Viktor Ploskina.
