The Nutcracker. We are preparing

Pyotr Tchaikovsky's fairy-tale ballet staged by conductor Alexander Anissimov, choreographer Valentin Elizariev, and set designer Eugene Lysik appeared on the stage of the Bolshoi theatre of Belarus in 1982. The last time this production was sperformed seven years ago, on 16 January 2013. And now in October 2020, the ballet returns – in the new master’s version. The first rehearsals have already started. Ballet soloists Liudmila Ulantsava and Artem Bankovsky absorb valuable lessons from the People's Artist of Belarus and first performer of Masha’s role Lyudmila Brzhozovskaya. Famous masters Tatyana Yershova, Igor Artamonov, Konstantin Kuznetsov, Anton Kravchenko and others also work as Tutors in ballet halls with young artists. Famous masters Tatyana Ershova, Igor Artamonov, Konstantin Kuznetsov, Anton Kravchenko and others also work as répétiteurs with young artists. We will lift the veil over the names of the performers of the main roles. The artistic director of the theatre appointed Irina Eromkina, Liudmila Khitrova, Liudmila Ulantsava, Artem Bankovsky, Egor Azarkevich, Even Capitaine, Igor Onoshko, Yury Kavaliou, Konstantin Geronik, Oleg Eromkin, Anton Kravchenko for the leading roles of Masha, Prince and Drosselmeier. Maestro Vyacheslav Chernukho-Volich will be the musical director of the new version.

Elizariev has repeatedly admitted that he worked on this ballet with abandon, he saw the first act of the production... in a dream. And the audience always followed the brilliant choreographer with the same enthusiasm, trusting him completely, plunging into this fairy tale, into the fantastic Lysik’s worlds, into the incredible beauty of Tchaikovsky's music.

What will bring master to the new version now, what accents will he place, what will he focus on? We'll see in the fall. We just want to add that Elizariev will start working with ballet dancers at the end of August.
