Masterpieces of Choral Music

The Snow Maiden by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Askold's Grave by Alexey Verstovsky, Boris Godunov by Modest Mussorgsky, Aleko by Sergei Rachmaninoff, The Queen of Spades by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Othello, Macbeth, La traviata by Giuseppe Verdi…

The famous choral scenes from these tremendous musical works will be performed by the chorus of the Bolshoi Theatre. This is a real event, because the chorus rarely makes such programmes.
The director of this music festival is the recipient of Francysk Skaryna Medal Galina Galkovskaya. Yuri Karavaev will conduct.

‘Can you imagine an opera house without a chorus? Of course not!’ the People's Artist of Belarus, chief chorus master of the Bolshoi Theatre Nina Lomanovich smiles. ‘The chorus in the opera is not just people who are lined up in a row and make some sounds. A good team consists of beautiful voices, purity of tones, rhythmic accuracy, expressiveness, high professionalism of artists who must show different feelings and emotions through singing. That is why the chorus on stage is the real character…

The theatre's repertoire includes about 40 operas in the original language. I adore every production! And I love all the performances I create. After all, I have been building this "construction" for decades, and how can I treat my work without trepidation?.. And in general, it is impossible to do anything without love. There are productions that are special to me: Verdi’s operas, for example, huge choral works…’

It should be added that this evening People's Artists of Belarus Nina Sharubina and Sergey Frankovsky, recipient of Francysk Skaryna Medal Dmitry Shabetya, Andrei Matyushonok, Sergey Lazarevich and Ilya Pevsner, supernumeraries, ballet and Children's Musical Theatre Studio will also appear on the stage.
