Mikhail Pirogov in the role of Herman

 

 

 

 

On 21 October, Tchaikovsky's tragic masterpiece, one of the composer's greatest works, the mystical drama The Queen of Spades will be performed.

Although the plot of Pushkin's The Queen of Spades did not really interest Tchaikovsky at first. But over time, this novel more and more got under his skin. He started the work on 19 February 1890 in Florence. The opera was created, according to the composer, "with dedication and pleasure" and was completed in an extremely short time: forty-four days. The premiere took place in St. Petersburg at the Mariinsky Theatre on 7(19) December 1890. It was a huge success. In general, nothing has changed now…

On 21 October, Mikhail Pirogov will come to Minsk again to appear at the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus in the role of Herman. This evening the performance will feature Aksana Yakushevich as the Countess and Elena Salo as the Governess, the People’s Artist of Belarus Stanislav Trifonov as the Count Tomsky, Maria Galkina as Lisa, Daria Gorozhanka as Polina, Anastasia Mihnovets as Prilepa, Alexander Gelakh as Chekalinsky, Yanosh Nelepa as Chekalinsky, Dmitry Kapilov as Surin, Dzmitry Trafimuk as Narumov, Victor Mendelev as the Master of Ceremonies.

Alexey Makshantsev will make his debut will in the role of the Prince Yeletsky. Anna Gurieva will appear in the role of Masha for the first time.

The principal conductor of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, People's Artist of Bashkortostan Artem Makarov will conduct.
