Ivan Gyngazov in the Role of Samson

 

 

The story of Samson, a powerful warrior defeated by female wiliness, is the most famous opera by the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns appeared in the calendar of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus for the first time in 2021. The production opened the 11th Minsk International Christmas Opera Forum and it was then that the soloist of the Helikon Opera Ivan Gyngazov made his debut on the Belarusian stage in Oksana Volkova’s production.

The winner of the opera Oscar – the Onegin National Opera Awards, guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia (Moscow) and the Mariinsky Theatre (St Petersburg) Ivan Gyngazov is back in Minsk on 16 April! So, we will hear a young opera singer, the owner of a strong and beautiful voice in the role of Samson (one of the most difficult roles in the opera repertoire) again.

Ivan Gyngazov performed at the Semperoper Dresden,  Alexandrinsky Theatre,  Musikverein Vienna, Bolshoi Theatre of Uzbekistan, Moscow Philharmonic,  Mikhailovsky Theatre, Bastille Opera in Paris, Sydney Opera,  National Theatre of San Carlos, Samara Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet, Kazan Opera. The tenor has worked with such conductors as Valery Gergiev, Vladimir Fedoseev, Placido Domingo, Antonio Pirolli and others.

Ivan Gyngazov was born in Novosibirsk. He graduated from the Mikhail Glinka Novosibirsk State Conservatory and then performed at the Novosibirsk and Yekaterinburg Opera and Ballet Theatres.

In 2017, he made his debut with Helikon Opera in Moscow as Manrico in Il trovatore and soon after became a soloist of the company.

He made his debut as Sadko at the Bolshoi Theatre in 2020, he performed the role Andrey Morozov in The Oprichnik at the Mikhailovsky Theatre and Manrico at the Rouen Normandy Opera House in 2021, Calaf at the Sydney Opera in 2022, Manrico at the Lisbon National Theatre San Carlos in 2023.
