Mykhailo Malafii in the role of Duke

Many musicians call this opera the most beautiful work created by the great Giuseppe Verdi. The genius composer himself believed that it is the best story he had ever written music for.

On 31 May Rigoletto will feature People's Artists of Belarus Vladimir Petrov as Rigoletto and Vasily Kovalchuk as Monterone, Honoured Artists of the Republic Oksana Yakushevich as Maddalena and Oleg Melnikov as Sparafucile. Winner of international competitions, recipient of the Franсysk Skaryna Medal Tatyana Gavrilova will appear in the role of touching Gilda and tenor of the Lviv Opera Mykhailo Malafii – in the role of frivolous and dissolute Duke of Mantua. The Honoured Artist of Ukraine Viktor Ploskina will conduct.

Tatiana Gavrilova works on this opera with Mykhailo Malafii for the third time. The soloist of the Lviv Opera, guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, winner of first and audience prizes of the 2nd Minsk International Christmas Singing Competition, winner of the Competizione dell'Operа in Linz (Austria) Mykhailo Malafii will perform again on the stage of the Belarusian Bolshoi in the recognized Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpiece.

‘It is always pleasant to work with Mykhailo,’ Tatyana Gavrilova admitted. ‘He is rousing, spontaneous, and it is very captivating. As a stage partner he is quite sensitive. And the main thing is that he is always ready to admit his mistakes, if they happen. That tells me a lot about him as a professional artist.’
