The production team of the Pushkin’s timeless story includes: principal conductor, the People's Artist of Bashkortostan Artem Makarov; principal stage director, the recipient of the Francysk Skaryna Medal Anna Motornaya; chief chorus master, the People's Artist of Belarus Nina Lomanovich; principal ballet master, the Honoured Artist of Russia Igor Kolb; chief set designer Lyubov Sidelnikova (sets, costumes); costume designer Tatyana Lisovenko; lighting designer, the Honoured Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation Irina Vtornikova; computer graphics designer Viktoria Zlotnikova.
As Anna Motornaya admits, she went to this opera for more than a quarter of a century. ‘This is a work of genius,’ the principal stage director of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus said. ‘The further I go through life with this work, the more I plunge into incredible depths: emotional, spiritual, psychological, intonational, moral. On the one hand, this is the "encyclopedia of Russian life", on the other hand, this is a story about a human beyond time... Tchaikovsky created an amazing work that comes from the soul of every modern person...’
The leading roles will be perfomed both by leading soloists of the theatre and young artists: Marta Danusevich, Elena Zolova, Nastassia Khrapitskaya as Tatiana, Daria Gorozhanko, Oksana Volkova as Olga, Vladimir Gromov, Dzianis Yantsevich as Eugene Onegin, Alexander Mikhniuk, Yuri Gorodetski, Iosif Nikitenko as Lensky, Andrei Valentii, Dmitry Kapilov, Uladzislau Zazulka as Gremin, Ekaterina Mikhnovets, Aksana Yakushevich, Olga Malinovskaya as Filipyevna, Maria Galkina, Anastasia Malevich, Nina Sharubina as Madame Larina, etc.
A new version of the opera will be presented in the year of the 225th anniversary of Alexander Pushkin’s birth. By the way, we can not mention one more date: 145 years have passed since the first performance of the opera in 1879.
Recall that this production will be the eighth version of Tchaikovsky's opera on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. This production has performed in the theatre since 1933… The last update of the production was presented in 2012. And the last performance of the 2012 Eugene Onegin took place in April 2024.
The premiere of the new version of the brilliant work will take place on 30 November. The second show will be performed within the Minsk International Christmas Opera Forum on 12 December.
