On 20 August the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus goes to the Birgitta Festival which has been held on the imposing ruins of the mysterious Pirita Monastery since 2005.
One of the main cultural summer events, which will start on 13 August, promises a considerable programme! The audience will enjoy the music-drama, Requiem… and Life Before, to the music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, a common production of an international team from Estonia, Belgium, Germany, Latvia; Sergey Prokofiev’s ballet, Romeo and Juliet, by Yekaterinburg State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre; Mozart’s comic opera, Così fan tutte, by the Black Cat Opera Company (United Kingdom); flamenco-ballet, Carmen by Bizet, by the Antonio Andrade Flamenco Company (Spain). As the organizers of the Birgitta Festival promise, “The biggest theatre of Belarus will bring to Estonia a brilliant production of opera classics, Eugene Onegin by Pyotr Tchaikovsky! The performance might fascinate not only the admirers of the genre, but also the people who are still discovering the world of opera. It’s a piece with easily recognizable melodies and captivating music which penetrates straight into the hearts of the spectators…”
