Astana Opera goes on tour to Minsk with such a large team for the first time. On 17 December, within the Christmas Forum at the Bolshoi, the theatre from Kazakhstan will perform one of its most popular productions: Gioachino Rossini’s La scala di seta. Perhaps, the Belarusian audience will hear this work for the first time.

It is interesting, that this season is a jubilee season for two theatres: in September, the Astana Opera opened the 10th season, and the Belarusian Bolshoi, as you know, has been writing its own story for 90 years.

In early November, winner of international competitions, the Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan, prima of Astana Opera Saltanat Akhmetova performed the role of the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus.

Now, a month later, the opera diva, together with her colleagues, will appear on the Minsk stage in Gioachino Rossini’s La scala di seta on 17 December, as well as in the Gala concert of world opera stars on 18 December.

La scala di seta was first staged at the Astana Opera in 2019. The opera opened the Piccolo Teatro project.  In October of the same year, the company toured with this production in St. Petersburg, in 2022, La scala di seta was sold out in five cities of Kazakhstan. The director of the prosuction Alla Simonishvili (Italy), first of all, wanted to give the audience an atmosphere of joy and happiness. The costumes by Manana Gunia (Italy) only emphasize the director's vision. Critics and journalists have repeatedly written about the bright talented artists engaged in the opera.

It is planned that the Belarusian audience will see on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre the Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Saltanat Akhmetova, Honoured Artist of Kazakhstan Zhannat Baktay, Artur Gabdiev, Alikhan Zeinolla, Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Azamat Zheltyrguzov, Altynbek Abilda, Saltanat Muratbekova, Malika Minisini, Yerzhan Saipov, Yevgeniy Chainikov, Ruslan Sovetov.
