The Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus awards the spectator  with an invitation for 2 people to the opera The Snow Maiden.

Dear friends!

We raffled a ticket to The Snow Maiden by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov among our spectators. Andrei Kovtun will be the lucky one to visit  the theatre on 28 January. He won the invitation for two!

We remind you that the spectators were to guess the person  in  the  photo playing Kupava in The Snow Maiden. In 1980s-90s Nina Kozlova (now the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus and head of the opera company of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus) starred in the best performances of the theatre: from Natasha Rostova to Cio-Cio-San.

Thanks to all the participants! New draws are ahead!

On 9 February People’s Artist of Ukraine Alexander Gurets will appear in Turandot by Giacomo Puccini.

The famous Ukrainian tenor will sing the part of Calaf.

One of the best Ukrainian singers, Alexander Gurets graduated from the Pyotr Tchaikovsky Kiev State Conservatory and in 1991 became a soloist of the National Opera of Ukraine. Already in 1997 he was given the first revered title of the Honoured Artist of Ukraine, in 1999 he received the title of the People’s Artist of Ukraine.

His repertoire includes such parts as Kobzar  in Taras Bulba by Mykola Lysenko, Andrey in Zaporozhets za Dunayem by  Semen Hulak-Artemovsky,  The Pretender, Shuysky in Boris Godunov by Modest Mussorgsky, Chekalinsky in The Queen of Spades by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Turridu in Cavalleria rusticana by Pietro Mascagni,  Herzog, Manrico, Messenger, Radames, Ismaele, Abdallo (Rigoletto, Il trovatore, Aida, Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi), Calaf, Cavaradossi (Turandot, Tosca by Giacomo Puccini), Canio (Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo).

Alexander Gurets is a welcome guest performer in Russia, Poland, Kazakhstan, Germany, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Israel, Switzerland, Spain, Canada, Japan and Cyprus. The singer participated in the production of Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District by Dmitry Shostakovich, directed by Valery Gergiev in Tel Aviv in 1997 and the International Art Project directed by Mstislav Rostropovich in Rome in 2000. At the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus Alexander Gurets appears for the first time.

On 26 January the title role in Giuseppe Verdi’s Aida will be performed by the People’s Artist of Ukraine, prima donna of Kiev Opera Tatiana Anisimova.

Tatiana Anisimova graduated from the Antonina Nezhdanova Odessa State Conservatoire. In 1992, she was invited to join the opera company of Odessa State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, where she worked for nine years. The title of the Honoured Artist of Ukraine was conferred on her at the age of 29. In 2001 Tatiana Anisimova was offered to perform the title role in a performance of Tosca at the National Opera of Ukraine; her successful debut was followed by a proposal of a position of a soloist in the theatre’s opera company.

Anisimova’s big luxuriant voice, rich timbre, dramatic sound, ethereality and unique acting skills allowed her to gain fame and popularity far beyond the Ukrainian borders. Her repertoire comprises pieces of all epochs; she sings soprano and mezzo-soprano parts with equal lightness, in accordance with “the best world standards”. She performs almost all dramatic repertoire on the stage of National Opera of Ukraine.

Tatiana Anisimova is a continuator of a noted singing dynasty: her parents were soloists of Odessa opera company; the singer’s father, Valentin Anisimov, Honoured Artist of Ukraine, later was a principal bass-baritone of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia and appeared at different opera venues of the former USSR. Her mother, Nelly Melnik, Honoured Artist of Ukraine, sang in Leningrad, Odessa and numerous Soviet theatres. Perhaps opera admirers would have never heard soprano Tatiana Anisimova if a crucial event had not once happened. Being “a child of the theatre” who spent day after day there, young Tatiana dreamt of any profession apart from an opera singer. The future diva took up ballet; when she was 14, she watched the film “Come Tomorrow” and realized that opera was her fortune.

Her artistic receptacle includes the roles of Tatiana and Joan in Eugene Onegin and The Maid of Orleans respectively by Pyotr Tchaikovsky; Zemfira in Aleko by Sergey Rachmaninov; Elvira and Lady Macbeth in Ernani and Macbeth respectively by Giuseppe Verdi; Lisa in Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades; Katerina Ismailova in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk by Dmitry Shostakovich; the title role in Iolanta by Pyotr Tchaikovsky; Lucrezia and Leonora in I due Foscari and Il trovatore respectively by Giuseppe Verdi; the title role in La Gioconda by Amilcare Ponchielli; Amelia in Un ballo in maschera and the title role in Aida by Giuseppe Verdi; Elisabeth in Verdi’s Don Carlo; Bianca in Pelagio by Giuseppe Saverio Mercadante; Manon and Cio-Cio-San in Manon Lesco and Madama Butterfly respectively by Giacomo Puccini; Santuzza in Cavalleria rusticana by Pietro Mascagni; Nedda in Pagliacci by Ruggero Leoncavallo; the title role in Carmen by Georges Bizet. Her repertoire also includes soprano parts in Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater and Verdi’s Requiem.

Tatiana Anisimova tours a lot. Her brilliant voice can be heard at different opera houses overseas. She sang the roles of Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana) and Leonora (Il trovatore) in Las Palmas; the role of Elisabeth (Don Carlo) in Bilbao; the roles of Tatiana (Eugene Onegin) and Lady Macbeth (Macbeth) in Malaga; the role of Liza (The Queen of Spades) in Geneva; the title role in Aida in Ljubljana; the roles of Cio-Cio-San (Madama Butterfly) and Aida (Aida) in Beirut; the role of Elvira (Ernani) in Karlsruhe; the title roles in Turandot and Tosca and the role of Katerina Ismailova (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk) at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia; the title role in Carmen at the Oberammergau Festival. In Gijón, Spain, the singer substituted for Montserrat Caballe during the premiere of Mercadante’s Pelagio, singing the role of Bianca. In 2006, a grand tour of the National Opera of Ukraine took place; Tatiana Anisimova sang the title roles in Aida and Turandot during the tour.

The performance will also feature the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Oksana Volkova as Amneris; winner of an international competition, recipient of the Francysk Skaryna Medal Eduard Martyniuk as Radames; People’s Artist of Belarus Vladimir Petrov as Amonasro; recipient of the Francysk Skaryna Medal Andrey Valenty as Ramfis. The performance will be conducted by the Honoured Artist of Ukraine Viktor Ploskina.
