Eugene Onegin goes to Estonia

The 7th edition of the large-scale festival “Evenings of the Bolshoi Theatre at the Radziwill Castle” will take place from 24 to 26 June in Nesvizh.

The festival will start on 24 June. The Church of Corpus Domini will gather again the admirers of sacred music under its beautiful domes. The soloists of the opera company will perform Belarusian baroque sacred music. The programme will comprise fragments of Lamentations, psalms by Simeon of Polotsk, pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, George Frideric Handel, Giovanni Pergolesi, etc. Accompanist: Larisa Terekhova.

On 24 June the courtyard of the Radziwill Castle will be filled with the sound of castanets: the choreographic interpretation of the immortal story by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra will be presented on the main stage of the festival. The Spanish hidalgo Don Quixote proclaims himself knight and sets off for a struggle with lawlessness and injustice. During his journey Don Quixote and his loyal squire, Sancho Panza, get into comic situations; the former falls in love and meets numerous outstanding characters, including young sweethearts Kitri and Basilio, the brave toreador Espada and the beautiful dancer Mercedes, wandering gypsies and courageous toreros. The performance will be conducted by the Honoured Art Worker of the Republic of Belarus Nikolai Koliadko.

On 25 June the concert “Heart, You Wish No Peace” will take place at the Concert Hall of the Radziwill Castle. The leading soloists of the opera company, namely Vladimir Petrov, Tatyana Tretyak, Natalia Akinina and the string quintet Serenada have prepared a unique programme which will undoubtedly become a beautiful musical “aperitif” to the evening performance. On the evening of the same day the admirers of opera will enjoy a performance of Iolanta, Tchaikovsky’s lyrical fairy tale about the blind daughter of the king of Provence, featuring the Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Anastasia Moskvina as Iolanta, winner of an international competition Eduard Martyniuk as Vaudémont, winner of international competitions Ilya Silchukov as Robert, winner of international competitions Andrey Valenty as René, Honoured Artist of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Gromov as Ibn-Hakia. The performance will be conducted by Andrey Galanov.

On 26 June the Concert Hall of the Radziwill Castle welcomes the stars of the Bolshoi Theatre again. A serious musical struggle, “Tenors vs Basses”, will be held at the cosy chamber hall. We’ll tell you in confidence that the action of the show concert will take place at the courtroom; the audience will hear famous arias and duets which are popular with the opera fans worldwide.

The grandiose concert “Stars of the Bolshoi in Nesvizh” will take place on the main stage in the courtyard of the castle on 26 June, closing the three days’ musical marathon. The concert programme includes popular arias, choral scenes, songs and duets from the gold fund of world opera, as well as impressive fragments, pas de deux, adagios and variations from favourite ballets. The concert will feature opera and ballet stars of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus. It will be conducted by Viktor Ploskina and Andrey Galanov.

On 28 June "Musical Mosaic" will close the 83rd season of the Belarusian Bolshoi.

On 20 June the concert "Songs of the 1930s-1940s" will take place at the Chamber Hall.
